Doris was invited to take part in the “Science, Innovation and Society – Achieving Responsible Research and Innovation” conference, organised under the auspices of the Italian Presidency of the Council of Europe. The conference was held in a classical music auditorium in Rome and about 250 experts attended. One development was interesting for ProGReSS and it was included in a Background Paper to the conference which seems to have been agreed with the Science with and for Society unit of the European Commission (our funder). Instead of six RRI action points, seven were named. Point 7 was “Global Trends in Science in Society”. Daniele Archibugi from the Italian National Research Funding Organisation (CNR) gave more details about this point, which included: “Need to interact with and integrate non-European visions”. The Rome Declaration on RRI, adopted at the conference, will be released soon.
